Choi Min-sik and Han So-hee star in the Korean remake of 'The Intern'. Warner Bros Korea.

The Intern is one of my all-time favorite movies, so I’m especially excited to see this Korean remake take shape. With Choi Min-sik and Han So-hee leading the cast, I’m very curious to see how this beloved story is reimagined for a Korean audience.

Set for a September 16, 2026 release, the remake stars veteran actor Choi Min-sik, known for films such as Exhuma and the recent Netflix K-drama Notes from the Last Row, alongside Han So-hee, who has risen to stardom through projects including Project Y, The World of the Married, Nevertheless, My Name, and Gyeongseong Creature.

Han So-hee takes on the role played by Anne Hathaway in the original, a busy executive running a fashion startup, while Choi Min-sik steps into Robert De Niro’s role as the older intern who unexpectedly becomes an important part of her life.

The film is expected to open on September 16, 2026, just ahead of Chuseok, one of Korea’s largest and most important traditional holidays, which falls September 24–26 this year.

The original The Intern was released in 2015 and became a worldwide success, grossing approximately $195 million globally.
